A.4. Victory Over Sin Worksheet

Victory Over Sin Worksheet

This worksheet is to define a proactive plan to implement biblical change in your life. Especially it targets a particular sin or problem area and develops a Put-off/Put-on plan based on Eph. 4:22 . ( 1 John 5:4-5 )

Note to The 4th Column

The VOSWS is usually applied to entrenched sin patterns. Unless biblical change occurs in the thoughts, the root and belief system, one is doomed to repeat the offense. For the 4th column, the plan of action, the use and practice of Section A.9, “Contingency Plan” may prove sufficent for a plan of action in most situations. It may be wise to memorize the eight steps of your Contingency Plan to assist you to 'walk in the Spirit' all the day long. Or one may use any of the forms in the appendix or worksheets for the 4th column. As an alternate to this form(VOSWS), one may use Section A.6, “Problem Solving Worksheet” .

My Specific Unbiblical Thoughts, Words, Actions ( Matt. 7:1-5 ) Put Off and Biblical Reference(s) ( Eph. 4:22 ; Col. 3:5-9 ) Put On and Biblical Reference(s) ( Eph. 4:23-24 ; Col. 3:10-17 )
I didn't feel like going into work yesterday because there was a difficult assignment coming to me from my supervisor. Thus, I called in sick and stayed home all day watching TV. I have committed the wrong of:
1. Lying ( Eph. 4:25 );
2. My selfish interests ( Phil. 2:3 );
3. Not doing my responsibilities ( James 4:17 );
4. Living by my feelings ( Gen. 4:7 );
5. The idea that I just work for supervisor ( Col. 3:23 );
6. Wasting time ( Eph. 5:15-16 )
I should be:
1. Speaking the truth ( Eph. 4:25 );
2. The interests of others on my job ( Phil. 2:4 );
3. Doing my responsibilities ( James 4:17 );
4. Living obediently to God ( Gen. 4:7 );
5. Working heartily for the Lord ( Col. 3:23-24 );
6. Redeeming the time ( Eph. 5:15-16 ).
My Plan Not to Repeat This Sin and to Respond Biblically Instead ( Titus 2:11-14 )
Reconcile by a) confessing my sins to God ( 1 John 1:9 ); b) telling my supervisor the truth about why I was not at work ( Matt. 5:23-24 ).

When tempted to call in sick, recite Col. 3:23-24 .

When faced with a difficult assignment at work, I will
a) Pray for God's wisdom on how to handle it ( James 1:2-8 );
b) Speak the truth (in a loving way) to my supervisor about how to complete the assignment ( Eph. 4:15,25 );
c) Recognize that I am to be doing the best job I can because I ultimately work for the Lord ( Col. 3:23-24 ).
