I. Recognize the danger signals.
Avoid putting yourself in the path of sin ( Ps. 1:1 ).
Flee from all evil ( 1 Thess. 5:22 ).
Avoid triggers/stumbling blocks that can start you down the road to sin ( Matt. 18:7 ).
II. Ask God's help immediately ( Heb. 4:15-16 ; James 1:5-8 ).
III. Generate movement NOW!
Not in any direction but in a biblical direction ( James 4:17 ; Isa. 55:8-9 ).
Not having any specific biblical alternatives can lead you onto another path of sin ( Matt. 11:43-45 ).
IV. Recall Scriptures you have memorized ( Ps. 119:9-11 ; Matt. 4:4 ), since actions begin in the mind ( Prov. 23:7 ).
V. Implement specific biblical put-offs and put-ons while renewing the mind ( Eph. 4:22-24 ; Rom. 12:1-2 ; Phil. 4:8-9 ).
VI. Seek God's strength for today ( Phil. 4:6-7,13 ).
Don't look back at past failures or ahead to what we might perceive as future failures ( Matt. 6:33-34 ).
We have God's grace to handle situations when we need it ( Heb. 4:15-16 ).
VII. Solicit help from believers if necessary ( Gal. 6:2 ; Eccl. 4:9-12 ).
Seek the support and prayers of other believers ( Heb. 10:24-25 ).
Prearrange to call someone if you need help ( Prov. 27:17 ; 1 Thess. 5:11 ).
VIII. Start doing the loving and responsible thing regardless of your feelings ( Gal. 5:22-25 ; Gen. 4:7 ; John 14:15,21 ; 1 Cor. 13:4-8a ).
